Of course, those aren't the only reasons why you should consider a career in accounting. We asked students across Canada for the reasons why they find the industry fascinating, challenging, and rewarding.

What drew you to pursuing a career in accounting?

The opportunity to apply the many transferable skills an accountant will gain to various business situations.

How do you think the accounting industry in Canada will change over the next 5-10 years? What trends will impact it the most?

Outsourcing of accounting work will continue to increase and may eventually lead to Canadian accountants focusing only on client relations.

Accounting is an essential foundation in any business and allows you to see the organization's big picture to make educated decisions for daily operations.

How do you think the accounting industry in Canada will change over the next 5-10 years? What trends will impact it the most?

The driving force that will impact the accounting industry in the next decade will be technology, making it easier for both internal and external parties to converge operational processes.

The accounting field is broad and touches all businesses and industries. There are various career paths and employment is abundant.

With the aging population, the unique Canadian accounting designation trend, and IFRS, accountants' international mobility will increase.

Accounting is a profession that's constantly changing due to globalization and technology. Such changes create opportunities both locally and internationally. 

How do you think the accounting industry in Canada will change over the next 5-10 years? What trends will impact it the most?

The industry will change due to the merger between the three designations. New international standards are the new trends in this industry.
