The Master of Digital Media (MDM) is Canada’s first professional graduate program in digital media. Housed at the Centre for Digital Media in Vancouver BC, this intensive program engages students in real world projects and coursework that provides valuable leadership experience, training, and top industry connections.
The MDM Program is a 12-month, plus internship, full-time professional Master's degree program. The program's curriculum is uniquely designed to meet new and expanding digital media markets. Guided by top-level faculty and industry mentors, students work closely with clients and peers on team-based, industry-supported projects. Graduates have the know-how and confidence to work at the highest level in the industry as creators, producers, innovators, or entrepreneurs.
Students Graduate from 4 Major Canadian Universities
The Master of Digital Media program is accredited and awarded by 4 academic partners—the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, the British Columbia Institute of Technology and Emily Carr University of Art + Design. MDM students receive a combined Master's degree bearing the seal of all four partner institutions and signed by all four presidents. Due to this unique academic partnership, there is no other program like it in the world.
Industry-Focused Program
The Master of Digital Media program has strong ties with Vancouver's thriving digital media sector. Professionals in the industry engage with students as mentors, consultants and guest speakers. Students spend 2 semesters working in small interdisciplinary teams with faculty and mentors on real-world industry-supported projects. The MDM program's close ties with industry also means that students have a wide range of options for their internships and can secure internships that fit with their overall career objectives.
Purpose-Built Facilities
The Centre for Digital Media resides in a new 51,000 square foot facility. The building features student-centered design—MDM students have a unique opportunity to create and re-create their learning space as they move through the program—including 11 project rooms, a communal kitchen, student apartments, sound studio, gym and social areas for both collaboration and relaxation. The Centre also includes an 8,000 square foot multi-purpose space called the Hangar with a green screen capability.
Scholarship Opportunities for Students
To offset tuition costs, there are a variety of scholarship opportunities for Canadian students. There is also housing funding for the new Centre for Digital Media student apartments.
Graduates from the CDM are equipped to take on high-level jobs in a variety of digital media-related sectors as producers, creative directors, project managers, programmers and a host of other creative and management positions.

Title: Art Director at TBA Digital
"The MDM helped me prepare for a leadership role in digital media right out of school It was all of the experiences that helped the most. Whether they were failures or successes, working with people from different backgrounds and cultures brought out great things in myself. It was a good environment to test and make your ideas happen with others—all while finding where you fit in with digital media and how to work well with people. It's been a perfect transition to the work I do now—which is art direction for apps, websites, and motion graphics pieces. I'm working with multidisciplinary teams, on many projects at a time. I constantly think back to the experiences I had at the MDM to shape the ideas behind the work I do now."

MDM gave me the foundation to start companies, raise financing, and work with world class clients."
