The Human Resources Department will forward all ELIGIBLE applications to the Principal. The Principal of the school will screen applications and may select those he/she wishes to consider from the qualified applicants. Neither Human Resources nor the Principal will necessarily respond to each applicant.
As a condition of employment, you are required to submit a Criminal Record (CRC) including the vulnerable sector that is acceptable to the Board. Human Resources must be in receipt of the original CRC before your employment can begin. Please note that the Board does not assume any costs associated with the Criminal Record Check.
Term of assignment(s) is subject to change with appropriate notice.
Please note: Long term occasional DECEs in an assignment greater than eighty (80) instructional days or four (4) months in duration, are eligible for up to three (3) full unpaid days during the term of their LTO assignment. A DECE LTO in an assignment greater than thirty (30) instructional days but less than eighty (80) instructional days in duration will be eligible to take up to one (1) unpaid day during the term of their LTO assignment. Such days will not be granted that extend the March or December break.
Under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, S.O. 2014, c. 11, Sched. 1 Ontario Regulation 137/15 for staff screening and police record checks;
Employees [DECEs, EAs, CYWs] working in licensed child care programs are required to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check issued by a Police Service on or before every fifth anniversary after the date of the most recent vulnerable sector check. In addition, employees are required to complete an annual offence declaration (annually recorded through the WRDSB staff portal). Educators working in Before and After School Programs are required to complete a request for VSC through your local police service [available online] and submit your original electronic copy to care-staff@wrdsb.ca for review.
Employees are required to have a valid first aid and cpr certificate and or be registered to update their training within the year.
It is the responsibility of interested candidates to ensure that their application, including a resume, cover letter, Ontario College of ECE registration and Standard First Aid with CPR Level C/AED is submitted through Apply to Education.
