We invite applications for the position of: Custodian, 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The current rate of pay is $27.57 per hour plus 16.3% in lieu of benefits. Qualifications: Grade 12 education preferred supplemented by completion of a Building Service Worker Certificate; current custodial experience; working knowledge of the operation of fire and intruder alarm systems; ability to work with minimum direction; ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, students, and the public; meets the physical requirements of the position including the ability to lift objects up to 50lbs, carry objects up to 30lbs, push/pull objects up to 80lbs, the ability to stand/walk and sustain repeated twisting, bending, stooping and squatting posture and grip up to 95% of the day; ability to work independently and as a member of a team; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Duties/Responsibilities: Duties are performed under the supervision of the Manager Custodial/Delivery Services or designate, and in cooperation with school Principal or Vice Principal; cleans by dusting, mopping, washing, vacuuming, polishing, brushing, disinfecting, and/or scrubbing all surfaces of furniture, equipment, floors, walls, glass, and other surfaces; cleans and maintains washrooms and shower rooms; maintains waxed or synthetic floor coverings; cleans light fixtures; replaces bulbs and tubes as required; cleans windows, both inside and out; operates necessary hand and power tools required in effective performance of duties; collects and disposes of waste as required; reports to Senior Custodian any signs of failure in buildings, fixtures, and furnishings; moves furniture as required; follows proper work procedures, observes all regulations pertinent to the work, maintains a good working relationship with other employees, and cooperates in maintaining a healthy learning and working environment; performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
