Sunchild First Nation School has secured funding for a full-time cover teacher/substitute teacher to be on staff for the 2024-2025 School year. The successful candidate would provide coverage for classroom teachers from K4 to Gr. 12 in the event of illness or meetings. When not covering for teachers this individual would conduct one-on-one assessment with students.

The school administration is seeking an enthusiastic and creative individual willing to join an incredible staff who brings experience, endless energy and devotion to teaching Aboriginal youth. The successful applicant needs to be highly organized, create an engaging learning environment and have high professional standards.

Sunchild School is a K to Grade 12 School with 350 students and 70 staff, many of whom have worked at the school for 12+ years. The teaching facilities are well-equipped and offer bright and technology-rich learning environments. The staff is dedicated to student-centred programming that promotes academic excellence and exposes students to innovative extracurricular activities.

The school is located 65 km northwest of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. There is availability in teacher housing close to the school. We have a competitive pension and benefit package, as well as salaries comparable to the provincial school boards.

Teachers must be eligible for Alberta Teachers certification. New graduates of Bachelor of Education programs are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate must also submit a criminal record check and intervention record checks as a condition of employment.

The start date for the position is as soon as possible. Interviews will be conducted based on the suitability of the candidate. and can be either in person or via Google Meet depending on the interviewer's request.
