Painter Full-time Position
Medicine Hat Public School Division invites applications for a full-time Painter. This position requires the performance of maintenance of all building painting with the school division.Duties and responsibilities:
Receive and complete work orders to perform interior and exterior maintenance on buildings such as damage done to walls, classrooms, framing and trim, graffiti removal etc.
Estimate the quantity of materials required by measuring surfaces or reviewing work orders to minimize excess and waste
Remove old paint and finish coatings by stripping with solvents, heat, sanding, etc.
Prepare surfaces to be covered by cleaning, filling holes and cracks, and sanding rough spots
Complete regular preventative maintenance in all Division buildings
Painting of all lines on the playground tarmac such as basketball courts, CHAMP, hopscotch, etc.
Painting of all traffic bumps, parking curbs and parking lines
Paint and/or apply finishes to cabinets, doors, etc., when necessary
Patch, repair and repaint walls
Match specified colours by using premixed paints, or mixing colour and pigment, oil, and thinning and drying additives
Purchase materials and products as required and within designated budget
Preference will be given to applicants with: Alberta Journeyman painter certificate. Equivalent experience, skills and knowledge may be considered.
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and as a member of a team
Sound knowledge of public facility policies and procedures
WHMIS certificate, valid Class 5 drivers license with a clean driving record.
This position is full-time, year-round with a great benefit plan and pension. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8am 4:30pm with occasional afterhours work.
A Police Information Check, Child Intervention Check and a Drivers Abstract will be required prior to the start of employment.
