Educational Assistant

Position: An Educational Assistant is required to assist students with social/emotional behavioural challenges, mild/moderate learning needs, and/ or medical needs.
Duties to Commence: As soon as possible
Qualifications & Duties: Committed to being a model and witness to Christ-centered education values and beliefs.
Apply foundational knowledge about First Nations, Mtis and Inuit for the benefit of all students, and support the Divisions goals towards advancing Truth and Reconciliation.
Completion of the Education Assistant Program at MacEwan University or equivalent post-secondary training.
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training an asset.
Experience with assisting with the implementation of student Individual Program Plans.
Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility and ability to work well with a strong, interdisciplinary team.
Display a positive approach to students with social-emotional-behavioral needs.
Experience implementing positive, proactive behavioural interventions including competence using specific strategies such as visual supports, sensory supports, reinforcement schedules, teaching problem-solving skills, social stories, etc. and has experience with Positive Behavioral Supports.
Support the use of Google Apps for Education as well assistive technology devices for communication.
Experience modeling and teaching students social skills, and emotional regulation.
Willingness to lift and toilet students as required.
First Aid and CPR training would be an asset.
Ability to be involved in a wide variety of activities that require some level of physical activity.
Knowledge and experience working with diverse learners who are on the autism spectrum is preferred. For more information on this position, please contact:
