We invite applications for the temporary position of: 1.0 FTE Grades K-12 District Inclusion Support Teacher

The District Inclusion Support Teacher works as a member of the Inclusive Education department, supporting students with diverse learning and behavioural needs, the LST, classroom teacher, EAs, and parents.

The District Inclusion Support Teacher works as a member of a team and will have a combination of site based and district responsibilities including: Case management

IEP development

Implementation of behavioral strategies, academic and social emotional learning programs for complex learners.The Support Teacher will act as a liaison between the school and community-based agencies. Education/Coursework requirements: Masters Degree in Special Education or related concentration.

Completed coursework designed to meet the diverse needs of exceptional learners in areas: Student with special needs, learning disabilities, strategies for adapting and modifying curriculum, differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices.

Minimum 3-5 years recent Inclusive Education teaching experience K-12.The successful candidate must demonstrate: Knowledge of a broad range of both elementary and secondary curriculum and the ability to support teachers on how to adapt and modify curriculum for their students

Knowledge and experience with Ministry of Education Low Incidence criteria

Working knowledge, supported by course work and experience, of the special needs arising from autism spectrum disorder, moderate to profound intellectual disabilities, chronic health impairments, mental health complexities, and students with dependent

handicaps

Ability to design and implement programs to meet specific student needs through a trauma informed lens

Ability to guide teachers in developing meaningful IEPs with appropriate goals, objectives and reporting

Ability to develop and instruct functional curriculum

Ability to plan and implement social communication and executive functioning programs

Skills and ability to develop transition plans for students at the entry and exit points in the school system

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with school administrators, teachers, parents, community professionals

Demonstrated ability to case manage, work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and liaise with parents, community partners and the District Inclusion Support Team

Ability to assume a leadership role with both teacher and paraprofessional staff and to provide training and problem solving

Knowledge and ability to implement computer programs with Special Education Technology to support Student achievementOur educational team is committed to engaging learners to develop creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication and social competencies.
