Designated Early Childhood Educator

Location: Cochrane Public School

Start date : As soon as possible

Vacancy Details: 1.0 (full-time, 35 hours/week)

QUALIFICATIONS: Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators

Must be fluent in French RESPONSIBILITIES: The DECE will:

Collaborate with the classroom teacher and principal to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that reflect the Full-Day Early Learning-Kindergarten Program

Co-facilitate play-based activities that allow students to demonstrate learning related to the four frames of the Full-Day Early Learning-Kindergarten Program

Effectively and efficiently observe and document student learning using a variety of tools and techniques to assist the educator in the assessment of the development of students

Collaborate with the classroom teacher to promote and maintain a healthy physical, emotional and social learning environment

Assume other duties/responsibilities specifically related to the functions of children and the effective delivery of the Early Learning Curriculum as determined by the Principal and the Superintendent of Education

ASSETS: Thorough understanding of the Ministry of Educations Full-Day Early Learning-Kindergarten Program

Thorough understanding of the developmental continuum for this age group

Demonstrated appropriate behaviour management techniques with individuals, small and large groups

Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills in working with students, teachers, principals, and families

Demonstrated professional communication skills

Demonstrated initiative, positive thinking, critical thinking, and sound decision-making skillsSalary as per the current OSSTF-DECE collective agreement Collective Agreements (dsb1.ca)
