PRINCIPAL ELEMENTARY

The Abbotsford School District is located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Sem:th First Nation and Mathxw First Nation. With this, we respect the longstanding relationships that Indigenous Nations have to this land, as they are the original caretakers.

We are seeking applications for future Principal positions in our Elementary schools. Those selected will be welcomed to our administrator leadership pool.

The Principal engages with students and families, provides instructional and administrative leadership, and leads the development and implementation of the school plan. This is an excellent leadership opportunity to advance our vision of equitable and inclusive elementary schools. As an Elementary Principal, your leadership in classrooms and in the school creates compassionate and brave learning spaces for students, advances mastery of literacy and numeracy, and facilitates joyful exploration of the curriculum.

We are seeking a resilient leader who can effectively engage staff in learning opportunities and change initiatives and has a clear personal commitment to meaningful learning experiences, equitable opportunities, and culturally safe environments. The ideal candidate will build strong relationships with students, families, and staff based on sound planning and decision-making and supportive instructional leadership.

Qualifications A Masters degree in Educational Administration, Curriculum, Diverse Learners, or related discipline

A member in good standing with the Teacher Regulation Branch

Formal leadership experience, preferably at the elementary school level

Minimum requirement of two years of experience as a vice - principal.

Demonstrated expertise in instructional leadership

Experience developing innovative programs to support the diverse needs of learners

Ability to design and implement school-wide systems of intervention including planning, communication, engagement, and change management

Demonstrated integration of the First Peoples Principles of Learning and commitment to the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission

Ability to meaningfully include all members of the school community to fulfill a commitment to enhancing equity and home/school partnerships

Ability to facilitate adult learning and collaboration grounded in an understanding of student learning and experience

Advanced knowledge of BCs Policy for Student Success

Demonstration of district leadership competencies with particular attention to resilience, capacity-building, visionary leadership, decision-making, and learning leadership.
