StrongStart is a free drop-in program offered to parents and caregivers with children ages zero to five years old. StrongStart program emphasizes learning through play, language and positive social interactions.
StrongStart provides a rich learning environment, designed for early learning development. Qualified early childhood educators lead learning activities where children find opportunities to make friends and interact with others of similar ages. The overall learning experience is shared as parents and caregivers attend with their children and are encouraged to get involved in activities like telling stories, playing games and serving healthy snacks.
StrongStart Facilitators are responsible for creating and facilitating a StrongStart Program with an environment where parents and caregivers participate alongside their children in an interactive play-based setting.QUALIFICATIONS Completion of Grade 12
Must have a valid B.C. Early Childhood Educator License to Practice (please include a scanned copy in your application)
Emergency First Aid Community Care training (must possess or be willing to complete prior to employment)
More than two years' ECE working experience
Knowledge of child development, family dynamics, community resources and early learning
COMPENSATION
The salary for this position is $32.62/hour plus 20% in lieu of benefits and stat holidays (14% if contributing to an existing municipal pension plan).
Depending on your availability, this on-call position covers absences and vacancies for the StrongStart program (4-hour shifts) and the Seamless Childcare program (5.5-hour shifts).
Working months are September to June each year. Once hired, employees can remain on-call or apply to temporary contracts and continuing/permanent positions via the VSB internal job board. All permanent positions include a comprehensive benefits package (including extended health, dental and municipal pension plan) after passing a probation period of 16 weeks.TO APPLY Create a profile on Make a Future
