The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board invites applications for the following Non-Union position vacancy:

Health and Safety Specialist

Reporting to the Superintendent of Human Resources, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development, implementation and administration of the Board's health and safety programs. The Health and Safety Specialist will ensure that the Board complies with all applicable legislation, guidelines and standards regarding occupational health and safety, and will provide leadership to the system in the implementation of all reasonable measures to protect the health and well-being of all staff, students and the general public.

The Health and Safety Specialist will promote health and safety throughout the system in conducting and/or reviewing inspections, investigations, audits, tests and risk assessments and making recommendations when necessary for corrective action to reduce or eliminate hazards.

Qualifications: Relevant post-secondary education in the areas of Occupational Health & Safety, Human Resources, or a related field;

Minimum three (3) years' experience in a related role, preferably in a unionized environment;

Canadian Registered Safety Profession Certification (CRSP) or working toward a CRSP designation considered an asset;

Joint Health and Safety Committee Certification is preferred;

A working knowledge of the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (RPRA) process considered an asset;

Excellent understanding of all occupational health and safety related legislation and all policies/processes/programs/training required to ensure compliance;

Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills;

Proficient in the use of computer systems, including data management software, and Microsoft Office applications;

Excellent organizational and coordinating skills;

Experience building relationships with community partners, including police fire, Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, Health Unit, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board;
