The starting annual salary for this part-time School Teacher position ranges from $12,367.60 to $21,691.60, with placement on the July 1, 2024 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. Job Summary & Responsibilities The French Language and Literacy support teacher provides language and literacy support to an elementary French Immersion school. The FLLST uses a collaborative approach with the classroom teacher and learning support services teacher to address the language and literacy needs of the gr. 1-5 students. The FLLST works alongside the classroom teacher to identify all students' language and literacy needs and determine identifying using research-based literacy instruction in the regular classroom.

The FLLST collaborates with the classroom teacher to co-plan, co-teach, and model instructive practices. Where students may need additional tier 2 literacy support, the FLLST collaborates with teachers to help provide small group, targeted intervention.

The FLLST works with the FI staff in on school over the 7 month period.

Education & Experience Elementary training with LSS or early literacy training

Elementary teacher training with French Immersion practicum experience

Major or diploma in early literacy, learning disabilities or diversity education

Experience teaching a continuum of skills in all areas of literacy instruction: of phonological awareness, decoding, fluency, comprehension, etc.

Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum?report(s)?

Experience working with Late French Immersion?

Eligible for B.C. CertificationKnowledge,?Skills & Abilities? Ability to demonstrate fluency in written and spoken French, plus a good working knowledge of English?

Ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge of the (Elementary) French Immersion?program?

Ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge of a balanced literacy program?including guided reading and assessment Teaching Competencies

Organization & Planning: Ability to plan and organize for effective instruction, differentiation and assessment

Assessment & Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies.
