Living Sky School Division (LSKYSD) is seeking a candidate with the energy and enthusiasm to initiate our Michif Pre-kindergarten program in Battleford at St. Vital School. Our Michif classroom will have a primary goal of revitalizing the Mtis culture and language through experiential and play-based learning in partnership with Mtis Nation Saskatchewan.
Position Summary
The selected candidate will promote the educational well-being of each learner in their classroom, is responsible for planning and instruction, and the overall care and guidance of their young learners. They will collaborate with other Early Years Educators and Michif programs and be responsible for setting up a learning environment that will contribute to the wholistic development (spiritual, emotional, physical, and mental domains) of each learner. The teacher is not required to be a fluent Michif speaker, however connection to Mtis culture and a willingness to learn is important.
Education, Experience, and Requirements: knowledge of the Northern Michif Language and Mtis culture is an asset, as well as a willingness to learn;
knowledge and experience in Early Learning, curriculum planning, and program development;
Bachelor of Education and must hold a valid Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate;
current criminal record check and vulnerable sector check are required;
