Northern Lights Public Schools invites applications for the following position:

A2425-13 Director of Learning - Student Services

This full-time position will commence on a mutually agreed upon date. The successful candidate will report to a member of the Executive Team and work with other members of the Central Office Leadership Team as required. The successful candidate will provide leadership and guidance in the area of Student Support and School Management as well as other duties as assigned in order to support the Division's mission of helping every student learn and excel.Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities will include the following, and may be adjusted to reflect the needs of the division and the skills or experience of the successful candidate: Support and training for school-based administrators to ensure student safety;

School operations, strategies and practices;

Leadership development;

Support of School Plans;

Critical incident response;

Oversight of the Mental Health Priority;

Working with outside agencies such as ISC, CASA and AHS to maximize student supports;

Development of Division calendar and assist with school scheduling;

Parental dispute resolution; and

Other duties as assigned.Qualifications The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and attributes:

Possess or be eligible for a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate;

Eligibility for a regulated College of Alberta School Superintendents membership;

Experience as a school administrator, preference given to individuals with at least five years of successful school administration;

Enrollment in or a completed Master's Degree in Education is preferred;

Strong understanding of School Management, strategies and practices;

Ability to be flexible, adapt to change and respond to employees in a positive and friendly manner;

Excellent organizational and planning skills;

Ability to meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision;

Ability to build an effective team and create positive adult and student learning environments;

Excellent written and oral communication skills;

Ability to use sound judgment and tact in exercising independent action;

Ability to create meaningful, systemic and sustainable change;

Ability to make reasoned decisions, and ability to recognize sensitive situations and potential solutions; and
