Posting: MM-2024-09-24-07Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) encompasses the

municipalities of the City of Kawartha Lakes, Haliburton County, and the

District Municipality of Muskoka. With approximately 16,000 students, TLDSB has

41 elementary schools, 7 secondary schools, and 6 alternate education and

training centres.

Reporting to the Transportation Supervisor, the successful candidate

will have a leadership role in the Transportation Department. Specifically, the

position is responsible for assisting in the supervision and coordination of

the transportation function of the Board; database and software maintenance; and

ensuring the continued implementation, maintenance and upgrade of services from

both a cost and efficiency perspective according to the Boards policies,

procedures and the guidelines of the Ministry of Education

Overall, the Transportation Officer will contribute to student

achievement and the TLDSB Mission Statement Better

together in a safe and caring learning community by ensuring that

qualified students have safe and equitable access to transportation services in

order to access TLDSB learning institutions.

Primary Responsibilities include : Administer daily departmental route planning activities required

to operate the transportation system (responsible for a group of routes,

schools and Operators);

Assist with the creation of transportation routing;

Track contract performance management for Operators in their

area of responsibility;

Receive phone calls, concerns, inquiries from parents, schools

and operators;

Resolve transportation issues with parents, schools and

operators including receiving and investigating complaints, suggestions,

supplying appropriate responses and implementing necessary changes;

Carry out general office duties which include sending Parent

Paid to Drive invoices to Accounting, sending files / templates to third-party

providers and managing medical plans of care;

Routing

Software management, updates, technical support (lead, troubleshoot, report,

resolve, share with staff);

Assist

in the creation / gathering of information for Ministry or Board reporting;

Oversee

& assist in the contract payment process;

Oversee

& assist staff in preparing for school start-up by communicating with parents,

Operators, schools about pick times, routes (times and schedules) and seating

plans;

Assist

Transportation Supervisor as required, managing staff and department in

Supervisors absence;

Lead

designated projects and manage ad-hoc special projects; coordination of

Specialized Services Transportation;

Perform

documentation updates for department and training manuals;

Other

duties as assigned.

Education: Post-secondary

diploma in transportation or equivalent field of study;

Additional

training courses in computer operation and software programs.

Experience: 2 to 5 years of progressive experience in a

school board setting;

Working

knowledge of Provincial legislation related to school transportation;

GIS,

routing software experience considered an asset.

Knowledge/Skill/Ability: Excellent

interpersonal skills and superior verbal and written communication skills;

proven customer service skills especially dealing with difficult people/having

difficult conversations;

Demonstrated

organizational ability, initiative, and attention to detail;

Ability

to function independently and as a member of a team, dealing with confidential

information and multiple priorities in a complex environment;

Valid

Ontario drivers licence;

Geographical

knowledge of Trillium Lakelands DSB area would be an asset.

Frequent

amounts of concentration, attention to details, visual exertion, and

keyboarding;

Pressure

to meet deadlines, and interruptions;

Occasional

Travel.
