Th is position is covered under the CUPE collective agreement and the rate of pay is $16.55/hour (minimum wage.)

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Manager of Accounting and the Manager of Payroll Services, the Summer Student will provide support to a wide range of administrative functions within the Business Department, including: Accounting, School Support, Payroll, Purchasing and Administrative Services. This individual will have exposure to a variety of both operational and special project tasks across the various functional departments.

Hours of work: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm with a one hour unpaid lunch.

Education & Experience: Completion of a secondary school diploma and a current student or recent graduate from a college or university program. Preference may be given to students in Business, Finance, Accounting, Payroll, Clerical or similar programs.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word or similar software is an asset.

Previous experience in a computerized office environment is preferred.Skills Required: Possess strong analytical, organizational, problem solving and data entry skills, is attentive to detail, and is able to work to deadlines and objectives

Strong interpersonal skills demonstrating adaptability, flexibility, professionalism, taking initiative and assuming responsibility with a focus on quality and customer service

Ability to work as an effective member of a team, and/or the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Well-developed verbal communication skills

Ability to demonstrate excellent oral communication skills using tact, responsiveness and diplomacy with co-workers, public and other stakeholders

Demonstrated ability to respect the confidentiality of information
