SECONDMENT - Balance of the 2024/2025 School Year POSITION: Learning Partner - Student Success

FTE: 1.0

LOCATION: TBD (support is provided across the UCDSB)

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1 Summary:

Under the direction of the System

Vice-Principal, Student Success and Real-World Learning, the Student Success

Learning Partner will implement and support Ministry of Education initiatives

including but not limited to; Student Success, Prior Learning Assessment and

Recognition (PLAR), Career-Life Planning (Creating Pathways to Success),

Growing Success, and other forms of real-world learning. In collaboration with

a team of learning partners including Real-World Learning, the learning partner

will innovate learning opportunities towards achieving the district goal of a

90% graduation rate that emphasizes student agency, purpose, meaning, and

contribution.Skills, Knowledge and Competencies: Demonstrated experience with and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Demonstrated experience bringing innovation and real-world learning experiences to the classroom.

Demonstrated capacity for creating cross-curricular learning experiences for students.

Demonstrated experience in guiding projects that enable student success through engagement.

Ability to support innovation and creative risk-taking while ensuring a safe and supportive environment that will enhance student learning and well-being.

Demonstrated experience in the creation of inclusive learning environments and in addressing achievement and opportunity gaps.

A track record of implementing innovative approaches to build successful programs and pathways for students.

Ability to support the UCDSBs vision for Student Success with a range of strategies to support schools in achieving the district goal of a 90% graduation rate.

Highly developed interpersonal and relational skills.

Ability to work as part of a team to plan for, develop, and implement professional learning experiences for educators across the UCDSB.

Responsibilities: Supporting Principals in the wraparound implementation of the Ministry of Educations Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) (PPM 129, and PPM 132)

Working collaboratively with students, families, school teams, and various community partners to build responsive interventions (ASLE) for students who without the opportunity face extensive challenges obtaining their OSSD.

Support innovative teaching practices enabled by the design process to more precisely engage and address the learning needs of all students.

Facilitate the development of resources in the school board enhancing program and pathways including Career-Life Planning, Post-Secondary Education pathways, and other forms of real-world learning, grades 7-12, across the district.

Support schools in the development and monitoring of SIEP goals, with a focus on Literacy, Numeracy and Wellness connected to BIEP goals.

Implement and support Ministry of Education initiatives including but not limited to the Renewed Math Strategy, Literacy, FSL, Early Learning, Equity, Indigenous Education, Special Education, Student Success, Building the Workforce of Tomorrow, Re-engagement, Career-Life Planning, Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship, Apprenticeships, and other forms of Real-World Learning.

Work with other Learning Partners to co-plan, facilitate and support system wide initiatives.

Work with other Learning Partners to co-plan, facilitate and support learning for principals, teachers and students.

Assist teachers in implementing high impact classroom practices that directly impact student learning and engagement (differentiated instruction, universal design for learning, assessment and evaluation, skills and competency development, real-life experiential learning opportunities, Social-Emotional Learning, etc.).

Co-plan and co-organize learning opportunities for students (e.g., Real-World Learning Projects, ASLE).

Assist with facilitating and coordinating supports for students

Qualifications and Experience: Ontario Teachers Certificate of Qualification

Secondary Qualifications in Co-operative Education (preferred)

Secondary Qualifications in Guidance (preferred)

Specialist qualification in a secondary subject area is preferred

Member of the Ontario College of Teachers in good standing

Extensive experience implementing the Authentic Student Learning Experience (ASLE), Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR), and other Student Success strategies to re-engage students.

Minimum 5 years of teaching experience

Conditions: Salary grid plus travel allowance

Term balance of the 2024/2025 (at the end of the term, returns to home school, where applicable)
