Part-time Journeyperson Chef - Chestermere High School Company Overview

RVS invites applications for a continuing, part-time (20 hrs/wk) Journeyperson Chef position starting August 27, 2024 at Chestermere High School. Chestermere High School is located in the City of Chestermere, and serves students from grades 10 -12. For more information regarding their school, please visit their website at https://chestermerehg.rockyview.ab.ca/. A Red Seal Certificate in this field is a requirement for this position.

Responsibilities Include Supervises students in the practical experience component of food preparation and service

Collaborates with the teacher chef in allocating tasks regarding all aspects of the program

Assists with the operation of the food services areas and directs students who are engaged in food preparation, serving, cashiering and clean-up tasks

Plans meals and menus with the teacher chef

Ensures that high standards of hygiene and sanitation are observed in the preparation handling, and serving of all foods

Assists in preparation of instruction materials. Assists in testing and conversion of recipes or experimentation of new products or techniques.

Serves as a resource to the program contributing ideas, recipes, etc.

Provides observations on student achievement and competence

May be left in charge of the kitchen in the absence of the teacher chef

Maintains a current knowledge of changes in the field

Performs other related duties as assignedEducation/Experience

Inter-Provincial Red Seal for the Cooks Trade or Baking/Pastry Arts supplemented with one to two years of varied commercial experience

1-3 years previous experience in related field

Experience in a school setting will be considered an assetRocky View Schools Benefits 6% vacation pay
