DURATION: Commencing April 29, 2024, ending August 7, 2024, during workday hours.
REMUNERATION: $42.86 subject to increase (inclusive of vacation and statutory pay, to a maximum of 115 hours, and paid by timesheet)
LOCATION: Bluewater Education Centre, Chesley (April to June) and East Ridge Community School, Owen Sound (July and August) with option of remote work some days
JOB DESCRIPTION: The summer school program is committed to providing quality education for every student in a safe and caring learning environment. As a summer school guidance teacher, you will provide support, including education and career counselling, for students enrolled in summer school courses, and who are working towards achieving their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Grade 9, 10, 11, and 12 courses will be offered virtually through the Ontario eLearning Consortium and may include students from across the district and province. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide education and career counselling to students
Tracking of student achievement in Aspen
Timetables for students, including tie-back codes for co-operative education students
Support students in navigating Ontario College Application Services (OCAS) and/or Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC) websites and processes to complete their applications to post-secondary education
Collaborate with teachers, school administrators, and community agencies
Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: A teacher in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
Guidance and career education qualifications
ASSETS: Current or previous experience in a school-based leadership role
Commitment to the K-12 learning continuum
Sound philosophy of education and strong working knowledge of the Ontario Curriculum, Growing Success, Learning for All, and the School Effectiveness Framework
Experience with Aspen and Excel
Experience using Office 365 and an understanding of Brightspace
Excellent leadership, communication and organizational skillsJOB REQUIREMENTS: Access to a reliable vehicle.
Clean vulnerable sector police check.
