Salary Range: $50,000 to $107,000 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)

The Curriculum Support Teacher Middle/Secondary Literacy - will work directly with teachers and students throughout the school district. The scope of this work will include, but is not limited to, the implementation, interpretation, and impact of supporting a comprehensive approach to literacy instruction in the classroom. The successful applicant will be planning and delivering this support as push-in, in-service working closely with other members of the curriculum department team as well as school based teams of teachers.

extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in all areas of this teaching assignment

knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Educations current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment

a minimum of 5 years of recent successful classroom teaching experience at the elementary and/or middle levels

demonstrated success in as curriculum support teacher and mentoring other teachers

demonstrated ability to link content, assessment practices and learning that aligns with a comprehensive literacy program

demonstrated understanding of competency-based instruction and assessment

demonstrated knowledge of and experience in using the First Peoples Principles of Learning in lesson planning and design

demonstrated willingness to team teach in classrooms throughout the district

demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with educators at multiple grade levels

demonstrated experience in supporting professional learning at the school or district levels.

demonstrated ability and experience in using sound lesson design and differentiating instructional strategies

demonstrated effective use of ACT in planning for instruction of reading comprehension and thinking

demonstrated ability and experience in assessing student learning and using assessment to drive practice

demonstrated knowledge of and experience with District and/or provincial literacy assessments (PM Benchmarks, Lit 10 exam, FSA)

demonstrated ability and experience in using technology to support student and teacher learning

demonstrated ability to participate as an effective member of a team and to provide service to others

demonstrated evidence of effective interpersonal skills

demonstrated ability to organize, plan and complete multiple tasks

demonstrated knowledge of and experience in meeting the goals of the Aboriginal Enhancement Agreement
