extensive academic training and post graduate coursework in the following areas: supporting students with special needs; assessment/testing theory and practice (Level B); strategies for adapting and modifying curriculum

knowledge of, and demonstrated effective application of the Ministry of Educations current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as outlined in the Manual of Policies, Procedures and Guidelines for Special Education Services

demonstrated effectively experience in carrying out a variety of assessments, including classroom observation, curriculum-based assessment and diagnostic teaching methods, administration and interpretation of Level B Assessments (ex. WIAT, PPVT, Key Math)

demonstrated effective experience with and knowledge of methods for evaluating and selecting instructional materials suitable for students with a variety of special needs and learning disabilities, and to plan Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions

knowledge of and demonstrated effective experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of IEPs in consultation with the classroom teacher(s), parent(s), student and district personnel

demonstrated commitment and willingness to work collaboratively with staff, parents and administration in order to support all students through an RTI system and student-centered model

extensive academic training in the following areas: students with diverse abilities; strategies for supporting students who are at-promise in literacy and numeracy

demonstrated experience in and knowledge of methods for evaluating and selecting instructional materials suitable for students with a variety of strengths

ability to design lessons that are specific and targeted to the students areas of growth

demonstrated ability to provide small group literacy and numeracy support (both in and outside of the classroom)

proven ability to co-teach with teachers to provide Tier 2 support in the classroom (push-in)

demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers to ensure consistency of strategies so students are being provided a double dose of literacy and numeracy support

ability to balance many schedules with a mindset of flexibility

demonstrated effective classroom management, behaviour management and organizational skills

demonstrated commitment to becoming involved and positively contributing to the culture of the school
