Reporting to the Area Superintendent, and the direction of the Assistant Superintendent, Academic Programs and Instruction, the Early Years Literacy Support Teachers primary purpose is to work in collaboration with classroom teachers and Principals in various schools throughout Area 2 to advance student achievement in literacy (Kindergarten to Grade 3.)The Early Years Literacy Support Teacher provides the following supports and services: Programming support and development
Classroom support
Individualized and small group instruction
Assessments
Other related responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor of Education Degree and Valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for)
Current knowledge of effective literacy instruction and assessment practices
Experience providing, creating and implementing literacy programming at the Early Years level
Knowledge and experience with targeted literacy programs
Strong planning and communication skills
Knowledge and implementation of cooperative learning/small group instruction
The ability to work alongside teachers, colleagues and contribute collaboratively as a team member
Knowledge of Indigenous Way of Life
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning
