Head of Upper School Grades 9-12 - TEMPO School for 2024-25

Job Description

The Head of TEMPOs Upper School shares the responsibility for the everyday operations of the school. TEMPOs Head of Upper School will, as part of the administrative team, help to provide overall leadership and guidance to the TEMPO School faculty and contribute to the strategic development and leadership of the whole school, ensuring an excellent standard of education for all students. The Head of Upper School will be responsible for articulating, promoting and instilling the schools philosophy and methodologies in traditional schooling amongst the students, parents and staff. This candidate must be a collaborative team member who is enthusiastic about joining a leadership team committed to increasing academic achievement and student learning. This successful candidate will actively engage with staff to encourage and support positive student development, emotional intelligence, civility, decision-making, and transition to post-secondary. The administrative leader of the upper school will provide leadership on issues of student safety, conduct and discipline, career counseling, scholarship seeking, post-secondary references, teacher evaluation, professional development, and staff recruitment.

Qualifications

Leadership experience of 5 years as a vice principal or equivalent is required. A Bachelor of Education degree is required, although a Masters is preferred. Proficiency in Google Drive and PowerSchool SIS is required. The successful candidate will be a hard-working, dedicated, dynamic and committed individual who has exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and problem solving skills. To be successful, the candidate must be able to demonstrate a commitment to education as traditionally understood. As an educational and administrative leader of the upper school, your experience will have been gained ideally at the upper school level. Education and experience in career counselling would be an asset in the position.
