Registered Occupational Therapist EIA is seeking a qualified Registered Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our growing team of Specialized Services. We are looking for an outstanding, dedicated individual who is passionate about working with children in daycare, preschool and kindergarten settings. The potential candidate would be required to work independently as well as part of a team. The Occupational Therapist is a key member of the Specialized Services team that works together to support the mission and vision of the Edmonton Islamic Academy. The selected candidate will report directly to the principal and the Specialized Services Coordinator. To be successful as the OT, you should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong administrative and budgeting abilities, as well as love for children. You should uphold the mission and vision of the school with pride and ensure that the preschool meets the relevant standard set by the Province of Alberta. Duties and Responsibilities Work closely with therapists, teachers, educational and therapeutic assistants, specialists and parents/caregivers who participate as part of each childs program planning team. Administer, score and interpret standardized pediatric occupational therapy assessments. Screen, identify and address fine motor and gross motor, visual perception, executive function, sensory processing and self-care issues that affect the childs performance in an educational setting. Develop and implement occupational therapy treatment plans and goals to improve Childrens ability to participate in the educational setting. Provide direct treatment to children in one on one, group and classroom settings. Write assessment and treatment reports (year-end summaries, etc.) by the given deadlines. Complete daily progress notes and provide input to the Individual Program Plans. Make appropriate referrals to community resources, programs and schools. Participate in teacher, therapy, parent and staff meetings.
