Job Posting: ASCEND Online K-12 Catholic School Community Connections Coordinator
Location: Work from home
Time Schedule: 2 or 3 days/week (to be determined)
Contract Term: September 2024 June 2025
As a K-12 Catholic School Community Connections Officer, you will play a pivotal role in fostering strong relationships between the school and its provincial school community. You will serve as a liaison, connecting the school with various stakeholders including parents, alumni, local businesses, community organizations, and Catholic parishes across B.C. Connecting parents in regional areas with each other will be an integral part of this position. This person must be able to think in innovative ways to support and create this new position. The successful candidate must be able to work with little supervision and be independently motivated. This role will promote the mission and values of the Catholic Church and school.
Responsibilities may include any or all the following: Parental Engagement *Develop and implement strategies to enhance parental involvement in school activities, events, and initiatives.
*Organize parent workshops, information sessions, and social gatherings to promote a sense of community and collaboration both virtually and in person regionally. Community Partnerships: *Identify potential community partners including parishes, events, local businesses, and non-profit organizations to collaborate on projects and initiatives beneficial to the school and community.
*Serve as a point of contact for community organizations seeking partnerships with the school, facilitating communication and collaboration. Event Planning: *Plan and coordinate school events virtually and in person including fundraising, open houses, volunteer opportunities, and community service projects.
*Collaborate with school administration, school staff, Local School Committee, and ASCEND Parent Advisory Council to ensure successful execution of events. Communication *Manage communication channels which may include social media, newsletters, and website updates to keep stakeholders informed about school news, events, and initiatives.
*facilitate communication between families, particularly to build regional groups and connections.
*Respond promptly to inquiries and feedback from parents, alumni, and community members. Public Relations and Marketing *Develop and implement strategies to enhance the school's public image and reputation in the province of BC
*Coordinate marketing and promotional efforts to highlight the achievements and activities of the school and its students. Alumni Relations: *Cultivate relationships with alumni and organize alumni events
*Coordinate alumni outreach efforts to foster a sense of pride and connection with the school.
Preference will be given to applicants with the following qualifications:
*Knowledge of Catholic teachings, values, and traditions.
*Active participation in a Catholic parish in B.C.
*Experience with, and an understanding of home learning in B.C.
*Bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, public relations, education, or related field
*Previous experience in community engagement, public relations, marketing, or event planning
*Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders
*Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
*Ability to work independently and collaboratively
*Proficiency in computer programs and applications (Google forms, Canva, etc.) and social media platforms
*Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for events and meetings
*Flexibility to travel to attend in person regional events, etc.
Benefits: This is an Independent Contractor position with salary to be between $22 and $35 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
