Application for the position of Teacher Special Education Liaison (SEL) - 1.0 FTE (AC 2024 023) (1 Position Available)

The successful candidate will become a permanent teacher with the Board effective September 3, 2024.

This full-time position is up to a three (3) year appointment until August 31, 2027.

General Description of Duties:

The Special Education Liaison (SEL) will be a member of a multidisciplinary collaborative team providing support and direction to school staff regarding special education programs. The SEL will provide professional development to staff with respect to educational assessments, IEP development, intervention strategies, and computer-assisted communication technology and act as liaison with community and education organizations. This role will also provide professional training to both Special Education Teachers, Classroom Teachers, and other educators in relation to systematic, evidence-based reading intervention, supports or programs that have been shown to be effective in improving student outcomes for struggling readers who at risk of falling behind.

Minimum Requirements:

The preferred candidates will: Hold Specialist Qualifications in Special Education

Have a minimum of three years of teaching experience in Special Education

Demonstrated ability to create and deliver differentiated learning strategies that allow exceptional learners to reach their full potential

Lived and/or gained work experience supporting and improving learning outcomes for equity-seeking students, families, communities across the systemApplication Process:
