Manager Payroll & Benefits (Exempt) Full-Time, Continuing Position Do you want to make a difference in the lives of students? School District No. 35 (Langley) is looking for a talented Manager Payroll & Benefits (Exempt) to help lead the Districts Payroll team who work collaboratively to maintain a healthy, safe, and positive learning environment for all students and staff.

The opportunity:

Reporting to the Assistant Secretary-Treasurer, the Manager role is responsible for supervising seven staff and administering all aspects of payroll, benefits and pension, as well as systems maintenance. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that all regulatory and contractual requirements relating to payroll and benefits are maintained. You will work closely with Finance in budget preparation and expenditure analysis, including Ministry reporting and preparation of year-end payroll documents for financial statements. Through this work, the Manager will be executing projects that have a direct impact on staff, students and the community, and will leave a legacy for future generations.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate will be a Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) / Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) from the Canadian Payroll Association, and possess a Business Administration Diploma or completion of a second-year accounting program (CGA, CMA, or CA). You have a minimum of five years experience in managing an integrated computerized payroll system, including benefit plan administration, in a complex public sector unionized environment. You have a proven track record for taking initiative, leading projects, and implementing new procedures. You have strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, communication and leadership skills, including the ability to facilitate and resolve issues collaboratively and effectively. You have the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage an extensive workload and exercise sound judgment and work independently. You remain current with trends, issues, and developments in the financial and accounting fields particularly as it relates to public sector management issues and provincial and federal legislative updates.
