CASUAL LANGUAGE INSTRUCTORS -PORTUGUESE

St. Patrick Adult & Continuing Education

Reporting to the Principal, the Casual International Language Instructor provides instruction to school aged children on Saturday mornings. The primary purpose is to instruct students in the language and culture of a specific group, promoting an appreciation of one's own heritage and encouraging acceptance of other cultures.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum high school diploma; university degree preferred

Portuguese fluency, written and verbal, are required

Good command of the English Language

Ability to develop and execute lessons for students with varying abilities and language skills

Experience in a Catholic school preferred

Active personal faith life

Excellent understanding of related curriculum, assessment strategies

Language teaching experience, either paid or in volunteer capacity, in the Canadian classroom

Excellent presentation skills and the ability to deliver effective lessons that engage students in learning

Ability to work with students who are struggling to comprehend language components

Excellent classroom management techniques

Competent skills in the use of technology for on-line instructionStart Date: ASAP Salary: $20.00/hour
