SUMMER LEARNING SUPPORT MERRITT - 2 Positions Available

Temporary part-time Summer Learning Support teaching position with a focus on Literacy, Recreation, Connection, Food Security, and Positive Mental Health Promotion.

This position will be for a total of 20 days over the months of July and August, 15-17 days of which will be student contact days, and 3-5 days will be for prep and organization. This is a community-based, drop-in summer outreach program for students in Merritt, Lower Nicola and local First Nations communities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Training and experience working with grade-level students.

Experience with adapting materials, resources, assessments and learning outcomes for student needs.

Valid BC Teaching Certificate and familiarity with BC Curriculum.

Teaching category five or higher.

Drivers License.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A commitment to supporting a variety of learning needs.

Experience/training in supporting the social-emotional learning needs of students.

Committed to establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, and community in an outreach role.

Committed to working as a member of a team involving district and community partners in support of students.

The ability to develop and organize resources and activities for a wide range of students.Observation of the Human Rights Code of Canada and being Culturally Aware of all is a requirement for this position.
