Douglas First Nation is looking for a motivated, adventurous Teacher/Principal to join our dynamic and energetic team for a rewarding experience in our First Nation community. Douglas First Nation has a population of 120 people Tipella, BC is 96km from Pemberton, BC and is accessible by the InSHUCKch Forest Service Road. Highlighted by some of the most scenic mountains and the Harrison and Little Harrison lake, Tipella, BC is by the spectacular Sloquet Hot Springs and offers an endless array of activities, including hiking, hunting, fishing and various water activities on the lake.

The Xaxtsa Community School has 20 students from K5 to Grade 6 with 2 teaching staff, one Educational Assistant, a Cultural/Language Teacher, custodian and receptionist. We are expanding our school in September to Grade 12 and will have 11 students from Grade 7 to 12.

The successful candidate will have: Bachelor of Education Degree and preferred Masters Degree in Education

BC Teachers Certificate (or working towards membership)

A minimum of 3 years teaching high school

Experience in senior leadership in a school setting

Adventurous, versatile and a nature lover

Able to adjust to living in a small isolated community with no cell phone service and ability to travel on a Forest Service Road to do shopping etc.

Sensitive to First Nations culture, and educational issues

Energetic, innovative and willing to contribute to a team effort.
