Summer School website: OCDSB 2024 SUMMER SCHOOL WEBSITESession Dates: July 3 to July 25, 2024Rate of Pay: $48.79/hour + 4% in lieu of vacationLocations: Broadview Public School, Jack Donohue Public School, Steve MacLean Public School, Summerside Public School, and Virtual School The ESL Coach is someone who supports the ESL/ELD teachers with pedagogical, assessment and resource needs. The ESL Coach is responsible for aspects of preparing for the Elementary program including lesson planning, students class placements, secure field trips and guest speakers to enhance the program, organize materials to be used during the session, support the organization/oversight of professional development opportunities for ESL teachers, provide technical support to ESL teachers, and provide class coverage if needed; often on short notice. The ESL Coach reports to the Site Principals, the Elementary Program Supervising Principal and the Principal of Continuing Education and liaises with Continuing Education staff.Anyone offered and accepting work within the program is afforded with protection through district policies and procedures pertaining to all aspects of their work, including Health & Safety. The responsibilities for this position include meetings before, during, and after the posted dates for the program.
Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. OCT Qualifications and/or teaching experience at the Intermediate level (English and/or Mathematics)
2. Additional Qualifications in ESL or TESL
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
1. Current and relevant classroom experience using high yield teaching strategies
2. Additional Qualifications in SPEC ED (an asset)
Application Process Please note that your work within this non-credit program does not allow you to accrue Continuing Education seniority credits, as per Article 40 of the Collective Agreement.
All qualified applications will be considered on the basis of qualifications, abilities, knowledge and experience. Experience and qualifications in Continuing Education Programs is considered an asset.
