to join the following initiative:Instructor Assistant: Adaptive Learning Program

6.5 hrs/day - Mon-Thurs: 8:30am to 3:30pm, 26hrs/week

DSW or equivalent required Overview Under the direction of the LBS (ALP) Instructor, the LBS (ALP) Instructor Assistant assists in the provision of instruction and training to Adult learners with developmental exceptionalities.

DSW or equivalent is required. Role and Responsibilities Knowledge and experience working with adults with a developmental disability as well as with experience or knowledge of newcomer to Canada population would be an asset. The candidate will work with an instructor, curriculum developer and subject matter expert with input form community partners sitting on a an advisory committee fo the two year project. Knowledge of relevant Board policies and procedures, Adult Education including Adult Literacy Programs, education environment and Board procedures and operations; organization and time management skills required to prioritize work and juggle multiple tasks and conflicting priorities with short timelines; interpersonal, and communication skills required to exchange and clarify information; oral communication and listening skills required for understanding and communicating effectively with diverse communities; understand and respond to inquiries using tact, diplomacy and discretion when dealing with colleagues and students; presentation skills to assist in delivering instruction; maintenance of all relevant certifications.

This knowledge would normally be obtained through completion of a Developmental Services Worker degree or recreation certificate from a recognized community college. Experience with developmentally challenged individuals is essential.
