POSITION: Intermediate Library Teacher (Includes Classroom)
APPOINTMENT: 1.0 FTE Continuing
START DATE: September 1, 2024
Qualifications Required: degree in elementary education plus a post-graduate diploma or certificate in teacher librarian or commencement with a completion plan;
recent successful classroom experience teaching at the elementary level;
skills, knowledge and ability to support the school literacy and library programs, to foster the development of life-long learners and enhance student learning;
ability to promote the library as the literacy hub of the school;
demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff to design and co-teach units of instruction that focus on project-based and experiential learning;
ability to develop and monitor the library collection by setting priorities and establishing procedures for the evaluation and selection of library resources;
ability to model, teach and foster social, emotional and cultural awareness;
ability to adapt curriculum, programs, and instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students;
knowledge of current 21st century pedagogy and assessment practices;
demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to the professional community at the school and district level;
effective communication, interpersonal, organizational and classroom management skills;
ability to integrate technologies and digital citizenship into educational programs; and
BC Professional Teaching Certificate and current eligibility for Teacher Qualification Service card. CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: 3:00 PM, April 29, 2024.
