Qualicum School District is centrally situated on east Vancouver Island and covers the area of Nanoose Bay to Bowser and spans from Errington across the Strait of Georgia to Lasqueti Island. JOB TITLE: Clerical Spare / On Call Casual
JOB FUNCTION: An employee in this classification performs a variety of clerical services on a relief basis to schools and various departments.
REPORTING TO: Supervisor at the work site.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:
1. Performs switchboard and reception duties.
2. Performs general office duties including filing, ordering supplies, and typing correspondence and reports.
3. Performs general bookkeeping duties including bank deposits, petty cash, receipts and cheques.
4. Performs clerical duties for libraries as instructed by the librarian or supervisor.
5. Receives and distributes mail.
6. May use specialized computer programs as requested.
7. Performs other job related duties.
REQUIRED ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school graduation or certificate equivalent.
2. A diploma in office administration or related course work, or a minimum of six months experience performing similar duties.
3. Competence using current district word processing software to an intermediate level and the current district spreadsheet software to an introductory level as demonstrated by successful completion of appropriate courses at a recognized institution.
4. Keyboarding speed of 50 cwpm.
5. Ability to operate standard office equipment, follow oral instructions, and work with a minimum of supervision.
