The District School Psychologist position includes opportunities to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment in the context of the Student Support Services Department and with school personnel. The successful candidate will also: Provide ongoing collaborative consultation and planning for students and classrooms through school-based team meetings and care team meetings.
Provide individualized psychoeducational assessments (based on student need) for students referred through the school-based team.
Maintain and track district wide assessments for the purpose of program planning.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and students in classroom settings to guide programming.
Provide professional learning opportunities for educators and support staff.
Assist with the Ministry of Education processes for designation and eligibility for adult support services (CLBC)
Assist with the administration of Screen Smart initiatives.
Maintain contact with other agencies for the purpose of supporting school district goals and objectives.
Assist staff, students, and parents with the delivery of educational psychology services.
Education & Experience
Masters Degree in School Psychology, Educational Psychology or equivalent
Possess or eligible for membership in the BC Association of School Psychologists and/or the College of Psychologists BC
Teaching certification with B.C. Teacher Regulation Branch.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Demonstrated understanding of B.C. Ministry of Education designation categories and guidelines.
Demonstrated knowledge of elementary, middle, and secondary contexts.
Demonstrated effective organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple assessments in consultation with school-based teams across the district.
Demonstrated ability to work with school-based and integrated teams in a consulting role.
Skilled in written and oral interpersonal communications.
Skilled in forming collegial and collaborative relationships with all community care teams and support professionals.
Knowledge of Competency Based IEPs
