Speech-Language Pathologist
The Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) has an opening for a permanent full-time Speech-Language Pathologist. The start date of this position is to be determined, but can be no later than September 3, 2024.
The AMDSB serves a student population of approximately 16,000 pupils. The successful candidates will join an energetic and supportive group of Speech-Language Pathologists.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Candidates must hold a masters degree or equivalent in speech-language pathology and must be registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). Experience with school-aged children is preferred. A valid drivers license and access to a vehicle is required.
Key Responsibilities: Demonstrate the core beliefs of inclusive education
Assess speech and/or language skills of students who are referred for service
Consult and/or provide direct service to classes, small groups or individual students
Support the implementation of Alternative and Augmentative Communication systems
Develop strategies and programming to support language, literacy and communication goals
Meet with multidisciplinary or school-based teams to collaboratively respond to student needs
Initiate, where appropriate, referrals to School Therapy Services
Initiate, where appropriate, recommendations for resources and equipment to aid students in their development of language and communication skills
Plan and implement staff professional learning in response to system demands
