Hours: 1:00-9:00 p.m. (flexible) Keewatin-Patricia District School Board
(KPDSB) is situated in beautiful Northwestern Ontario. KPDSB serves the
educational needs of approximately 5,000 students within 17 elementary and 6
secondary schools in the communities of Kenora, Sioux Narrows, Vermilion Bay,
Ear Falls, Red Lake, Dryden, Sioux Lookout, Ignace, Pickle Lake, Savant Lake,

The Recreation Coordinator will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing recreational programs and cultural activities for students. The ideal candidate will have a passion for promoting social engagement and overall well-being among students.
Responsibilities Design, develop, and execute a diverse range of recreational programs and cultural activities suitable for students
Collaborate with school staff, students, and community partners to identify interests and preferences to tailor programs accordingly
Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages student participation and engagement in recreational programs
Implement strategies to address the diverse needs and interests of the student body
Work with community partners and Elders to plan for programs and activities
Ensure proper planning, logistics, and communication to ensure successful events
Book, coordinate, and ensure facilities are well-maintained and accessible for scheduled activities
Coordinate with school administration to secure necessary resources for recreational programs
Promote programs and activities to students and caregivers
Utilize various communication channels to keep the school community informed about upcoming events and opportunities to advocate for and to communicate the needs of students
Work closely with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to integrate recreational programs into school programming (curricular, extracurricular, and outside of the school day)
Maintain accurate records of program attendance, feedback, and other relevant data
Conduct regular evaluations of programs to assess their effectiveness and make improvements as needed
Coordinate with other organizations/agencies to advertise for their programming and co-plan activities with themEducation and Qualifications Degree or diploma in Recreation or related field preferred
Previous experience working with students in a recreational or educational setting preferred.
Extensive experience working with First Nations, Metis and Inuit students, their families and communities within Northwestern Ontario
Trauma informed training and/or willingness to obtain
Drivers license requiredKnowledge and Attributes Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to recreational activities.
