Squamish Elementary School

Temporary: Immediately to December 17, 2021, or return of the incumbent, whichever occurs first

Hours: 4.5 hours per day, for all days school is in session (Student Specific 1)

1.0 hour per day, for all days school is in session (Student Specific 2)

0.75 hours per day, for all days school is in session (Library)

Rate of Pay: $29.43/hour (Student Specific 2) $28.32/hour (Student Specific 1)

$26.64/hour (Library)

Duties & Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Principal(s), and the general supervision of the Classroom Teacher(s), provides assistance for students who have severe physical disabilities, chronic health impairments, intellectual disabilities and/or social, emotional and/or behavioural problems as designated by the Director of Instruction, and who may require personal/physical care, such as toileting, feeding, lifting, help with dressing, etc., while supporting the achievement of stated program goals and objectives. Under the direction of the Teacher-Librarian and with the general direction of the Principal performs a variety of clerical and student support duties in school libraries.


Completion of Grade 12 plus a special program and over one (1) year, up to, and including two (2) year's related experience. A special program would be the Capilano University Special Education Teacher Assistant Program and completion of senior secondary science courses. Specialized training or experience specific to the defined needs of the student (i.e. Braille, Sign Language, Augmentative Systems, Mobility Aids, etc. Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License. Knowledge of basic First Aid. Basic knowledge of related learning tools (i.e. computers. etc.) Knowledge of database management spread sheet and word-processing programs.
