Facilities Manager (PERMANENT FULL-TIME)

We are currently inviting applications for the full-time position of Facilities Manager.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Facilities Manager provides leadership and management of the operation and maintenance of all physical facilities at Southridge School in support of the Schools mission and vision. The Facilities Manager is responsible for the development of ongoing and preventive maintenance plans, as well as assisting with the formulation of long-term capital asset renewal plans. The incumbent oversees campus security, develops operational and capital budget proposals for the facilities departments and plays an important role in supporting campus expansion plans.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure the effective maintenance and operation of buildings, building systems, grounds, equipment and vehicles by utilizing efficient preventative maintenance programs and ensuring that work is completed according to applicable regulations and standards;

Recruit, train, supervise, evaluate and support the day-to-day work of the Facilities Team

Oversee the on-going routine and unexpected maintenance and repair of operational systems including the HVAC, air quality, plumbing, electrical, fire and security with the support of the Facilities Co-Ordinator

Provide an environmental lens on the physical operations of the school by developing and implementing appropriate solutions for energy management, waste management reduction and transportation;

Oversee the management of campus security and traffic flow;

Manage major external contractors, including conducting RFP processes where necessary and ensuring the overall quality of the work performed;

Prepare annual facilities, grounds and landscaping budget proposals for operating and capital expenditures and monitor adherence to approved budgets throughout the year;

Assist with the preparation of long-term capital replacement plans and budgets;

Lead and manage special projects including determination of scope, obtaining necessary quotes and setting and monitoring time-lines;

Participate in the Building & Grounds Committee with support for on-going initiatives and construction projects;

Oversee facilities support for school events including involvement in the planning for set up for regular school functions and fundraising events;

Provide oversight to ensure that the school is adhering to the School Health & Safety Guidelines and arranging training and inspections in accordance with WorkSafe BC standards, ensure that all required logs and paperwork for maintenance and inspections are completed and in accordance with regulations;

Membership on the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee.

QUALIFICATIONS

Diploma or a degree in business or facility management or a related discipline;

Minimum of five to seven years of building operations and maintenance experience;

Excellent project management skills;

Knowledge and/or experience of building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and security as well as knowledge of municipal code;

Supervisory experience and leadership skills;

Ability and desire to work in a collaborative school environment where each member of the Southridge community plays a role in advancing the vision, mission and goals of the school

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, combined with problem solving and analytical skills;

Proven organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects;

Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, GSuite and demonstrate proficiency with other applicable facilities programs such as HVAC/DDC controls etc.
