A great place to go to school and work! Literacy Coach (1.0 FTE Continuing)

Competition #3401 The Chinook School Division requires a full time (1.0 FTE) continuing Literacy Coach beginning August 27, 2024. This position provides support and coaching in balanced literacy to teachers who are teaching grades 1 to 8. The successful candidate will be responsible to build the capacity of others in delivering instructional strategies in Balanced Literacy. The successful candidate will work as part of a team planning professional development and be responsible for follow up coaching in half of the schools within Chinook.The Chinook School Division is proud to serve nearly 6,000 students in 60 schools, with over 1,000 collegial and student-centered teachers and support staff. take meaningful action. Duties: Plan and deliver workshops for teachers in grades 1 to 8 in literacy strategies within Chinook

Create literacy resources and supports for teachers

Coach teachers in in implementing high impact instructional strategies in Balanced Literacy

Work with new teachers to implement Balanced Literacy practices in their classrooms

Travel to various schools across the division

Analyze data with teachers and plan for instruction based on that assessment; and

Develop collaborative relationships with classroom teachers, and Administrators. Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience as a teacher

Demonstrated excellence in implementing balanced literacy

Experience teaching English Language Arts in elementary and/or middle years

Knowledge of literacy assessment tools

Willingness to take risks and to be flexible in trying new approaches

Skilled in working in a team environment

Comfortable in modeling and presenting to groups

Highly developed organizational skills

Ability to take initiative and work independently

Leadership experience or capability to demonstrate leadership

Certified as a Teacher in good standing in Saskatchewan or the ability to be certified
