Competition #3636 The Chinook School Division requires a full time (1.0 FTE) temporary student services counsellor beginning January 8, 2025 through January 25, 2026. The counsellor position will be responsible for all in-school counselling duties apart from career counselling. The counsellor will provide service to Eastend School, Maple Creek Composite School and Wymark School within the Chinook School Division #211.The Chinook School Division is proud to serve nearly 6,000 students in 60 schools, with over 1,000 collegial and student-centered teachers and support staff. Duties:
The Student Services Counsellor will: Ensure that students have opportunity and support in dealing with both day-to-day challenges and significant barriers to their learning and life;
Ensure that students and families are able to access additional resources and personnel in pursuit of wellness;
Lead preventative measures and programs in school endeavors that build skills in students, the school, and the community;
Advocate for students and assist them in restoring relationships and making plans for student/youth and community contributions;
Contribute to the development of a strong, diverse and effective team within the school.
The successful candidate will have a commitment to the vision, mission, principles and goals of the Chinook School Division. Desired Qualifications: Training, education and experience in psychology, counselling or social work is required;
Effective interpersonal and communication skills with staff, students and family members;
Comfort and ability to work in crisis management areas;
Ability to build skills in staff, student, and family members.
