Located in the picturesque hamlet of Taloyoak, Netsilik School serves the community of Taloyoak. The school has a population of approximately 381 students in a K-12 setting with a staff of 42. The school and community are steeped in a rich history of Inuit culture.
Required qualifications: Bachelor of Education degree or pending degree supported by letter from registrar indicating potential graduation date
Eligible for Nunavut Teaching CertificateDesired qualifications: Subject knowledge, training and experience relevant to the assignment
Experience and / or training with current assessment methods
Evidence of differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
Experience and / or training in classroom management practices and the development of positive learning environments (eg. Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports, etc.)
Cross-cultural and/or northern teaching experience
Evidence of training and / or experience in the area of Balanced Literacy
Training and / or teaching experience in an ESL environment
Evidence / experience building positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, stakeholders
Experience building literacy skills through various subjects
Experience working as a collegial member of the overall school team and to plan for students using a collaborative approachPlease note: Subsidized housing is available but sharing may be required.
The salary for certified teachers ranges from $83,643 prorated/annum. to $131,151 prorated/annum.
