They demonstrate passion and diligence in their core subjects and interdisciplinary learning, across the Humanities, Sciences, Languages, Physical Education, the Arts, English, Design and Mathematics. Their role involves planning, reviewing and revising curriculum as part of department teams, as well as implementing approaches to teaching in learning that are student-centered and skills-based.We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, curious and flexible Grade 5 teacher for our Prep School Primary Division to teach a full course load. Form Advising (Homeroom teacher) is also included in this position.Key Responsibilities and Tasks

Academic

Prepare and implement course objectives, lesson plans, outlines and assessment pieces for course of study following IB-PYP and College guidelines;

Employ best practices for teaching students at the primary school level;

Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, assemblies and various professional development opportunities;

Collaborate with our IB Coordinators to develop units of work;

Collaborate with colleagues within the department and beyond, with humility and openness to feedback on all aspects of the role, from students, parents and colleagues;

Participate fully and collaboratively in a shared approach to the Middle Years form advising programs, weekly routines and processes.

Advising

Advisers meet with their advising groups on a daily basis. These meetings consist of formal and informal discussions focused on enhancing student experience through learning, reflection and connection. The adviser is the point person between families and the school, with an eye to support a student's overall progress and wellbeing

Meet with advisees during daily advising sessions, deliver the advising curriculum, and offer explicit support with organization

Actively engage with students in their advising group in order to know them and support their growth in academics, co-curriculars and the social emotional realm.

Co-curricular, Coaching and Supervisory

Lead with skill, passion and enthusiasm within our co-curricular program, including the arts and athletics;

Supervision duty as assigned;

UCC students benefit from a robust co-curricular program including athletics. Many teams have the opportunity to participate in weekend and CAIS tournaments. Some CAIS weekend tournaments are out of province.Job Requirements

Experience, Knowledge and Competencies:

Both a Bachelors degree and a Bachelor of Education;

Teachers Qualifications in the Primary-Junior or Junior-Intermediate;

Practicum or teaching experience with Primary-Junior or Junior-Intermediate students;

Maintains accurate records, plans assessments within policies, utilizes learning management systems, and demonstrates subject matter expertise;

Demonstrates commitment to justice, fairness, equity, and values diversity to create an inclusive community, addressing issues related to bias and prejudice;

Possesses a collaborative disposition, excellent interpersonal and communication skills;

Designs lessons to address diverse needs, styles, and interests, fostering problem-solving and lifelong learning;

Demonstrated an ongoing commitment to personal growth and professional development;
