Fraser Academy is seeking a full-time Math Department Head & Middle and Senior School Math Teacher to join our team of educators for the 2024 - 2025 school year. Fraser Academy is a fully accredited day school, which focuses on educating students in Grades 2-12 with language-based learning disabilities. These students are taught in small class sizes with up to ten students. Each student receives one-to-one language training daily and works with a variety of subject specialist teachers. Fraser Academy is also an accredited member of the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS), the Independent Schools Association of British Columbia (ISABC), the International Dyslexia Association (IDA), and the Federation of Independent Schools Association (FISA). The Math Department Head is the leadership team member responsible for advancing and improving the math department in its goals to achieve math remediation excellence, develop our students numeracy skills, and support the math faculty in continually improving the learning environment supporting student success and building mathematical confidence. Additionally as a Math Teacher, you will play an important role in developing mathematical thinking in students, and promoting math throughout the school. You will work with a collaborative, dynamic team of educators and staff who are passionate about the success of all learners. This role requires someone who can adapt and adjust their teaching to meet the diverse needs of each learner and is passionate about student success. Responsibilities Uphold and advance the schools vision, mission, values and standards

Maintain and advance the department image in the school (hall-boards, events, etc.)

Participate in leadership meetings and run department meetings

Monitor student academic performance, achievement, and any academic misconduct

Improve & develop the departments educational practices through:

Setting departmental goals

Developing teaching strategies to achieve math remediation excellence and improve numeracy

Mentoring faculty (incl. visiting classrooms)

Supporting educational growth and adherence to schools practices & policies

Partner with faculty members to address parent/student concerns

Set, evaluate and monitor the departmental budget and the ensuing expenses

Participate in academic teams (report card editing, IEP, student advisor, etc.)

Support school events (community education nights, shows, concerts, fairs, etc.)

Support and ensure the preparation for the numeracy assessment

Competencies Sets an excellent standard in educational practice & upholding school standards

Demonstrates strong organizational, budgeting and time management skills

Requirements Certified Teacher with Bachelors in a mathematics field and a Bachelors of Education

4+ years of experience teaching mathematics

Masters Degree in Education, or Mathematics (or must start one within 3 years)
