Responsibilities

Reporting to the Superintendent of Education and working collaboratively with the Catholic Learning Services Team, the successful candidate will engage in one on one structured literacy instruction for primary students and support elementary educators to build capacity in the integration of structured literacy strategies. Specific responsibilities will include: Participate in training and planning related to structured literacy and early reading screening.

Provide literacy and language curriculum instruction to students in Grade 1, Grade 2 and eligible Kindergarten classrooms to support teacher administration of early reading screening.

Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 reading interventions and other supports required by the school or board on reading and literacy-related initiatives.

Administer early reading screening as required.

Support student literacy assessment.

Document student literacy learning.

Organize and create learning materials to effectively deliver lessons.

Engage in ongoing professional learning and conversations with Catholic Learning Services and school staff to best meet the needs of students.

Build capacity for structured literacy instruction based on the science of reading for school staff.

Qualifications and Skills Certificate of Qualification from the Ontario College of Teachers (member in good standing).
