INTERMEDIATE TEACHER

Full-time (1.0 FTE) position

West Bay IB World School

Effective immediately until June 30, 2025The annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from $59,711 to $109,520, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.Required Qualifications and Experience

A full-time teaching position is available at West Bay IB World School teaching lower intermediate. The successful applicant for this position must possess a Certificate of Qualification from the Teacher Regulation Branch and demonstrate evidence of the following: have a clear understanding of the characteristics of the intermediate student and the ability to develop a positive learning environment addressing the intellectual, physical and emotional needs of this age group, preferably in an IB PYP classroom;

be willing to collaboratively plan units of inquiry to be taught through a guided inquiry approach;

have demonstrated ability and experience to teach, assess and plan an intermediate program, preferably with successful experience with the Primary Years Program;

be willing to attend on-going training and professional development for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program;

possess strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills and proven ability, commitment and drive to work co-operatively and effectively with other educators in a collegial team setting;

possess familiarity with a Universal Design for Learning approach and a deep commitment to providing the supports and encouragement for all students to be successful;

knowledge and experience in adapting learning objectives and strategies to meet the needs of English Language Learners at varying levels;

experience and a clear understanding of social and emotional learning and self-regulation;

knowledge and proven experience in the area of technology including the ability to integrate various technologies into the curriculum, modes of assessment, and adapting curriculum;

the ability to use formative assessment practices to improve student achievement with emphasis on the BC Curriculum and web-based platforms;

effective classroom management skills that are student-centered and focus on relationships and authentic connections;

a strong commitment to positive and consistent engagement and communication with parents and other stakeholders;

be familiar with, and have an interest in, supporting the goals outlined in the West Vancouver Indigenous Enhancement Agreement.
