Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience: Bachelor of Education or equivalent in Elementary Education.

Experience teaching at the intermediate grade levels in a classroom, including literacy and numeracy.

Teaching experience in the use of current, research-based practices for literacy and numeracy learning.

Experience with First Nations ways of Knowing, Doing and Being in teaching culturally relevant content.

Experience teaching students with neuro-diversities, including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Teaching Experience using assessment for learning strategies. DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND SUITABILITY:

Candidates should have and may be assessed on their: Willingness and ability to work as a member of a team and to participate in the total school programs and initiatives.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish trusting relationships and work with students, parents, staff members, consultants, and administrators.

Ability to adapt curriculum to meet the needs of students with a range of learning styles and abilities and to meet the needs of students with Individual Educational Plans.

Knowledge and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of the First Nations people of Yukon and a culturally diverse student population.

Willingness and experience taking kids on overnight camping trips.

Effective and respectful classroom management based on a developmental understanding of childrens strengths and needs.

A strong commitment to the practice of differentiated instruction, UDL, and assessment within the classroom to meet student needs.

Strong commitment to and proven dedication to support the philosophy, values, and beliefs of the school. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: To be a Teacher in Yukon, you must hold a Teacher Certification in another Canadian province/territory first.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
