QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you posses the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor of Education or equivalent; with a focus on elementary education;
- Recent experience teaching primary or early intermediate grades
- Recent experience and/or training teaching students who are English Language Learners;
- Experience adapting curriculum to meet a range of learning abilities;
- Experience developing individual education plans and student support plans;
- Experience teaching literacy programs, including conducting running records and guided reading practices
- Experience incorporating First Peoples Principles of Learning across the curriculum
- Experience using various technology, including Epson boards, will be an assetDESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:
Candidates should have and may be assessed on their: Strong ability to adapt and modify curriculum to meet a range of learning styles and abilities;
Strong ability to develop differentiated instructional opportunities for students, to collaborate with LAT teachers and educational assistants;
Ability to use trauma-informed approaches to develop effective relationships with students
Ability to assess students learning and report progress to parents/guardians using Assessment for Learning and outcome-based grading principles on a competency-based curricular framework;
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills working with parents, staff members, consultants, and community agencies;
Willingness and ability to participate in the total school program including religious education;
Willingness to support the school mission statement and participate in all religious activities;
An appreciation of the cultural diversity of the Yukon with the ability to incorporate and promote this diversity within the faith life of the school community;
Knowledge of and sensitivity towards the culture and aspirations of Yukon First Nations and a culturally diverse student population
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: To be a Teacher in Yukon, you must hold a Teacher Certification in another Canadian province/territory first;
Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
