Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience: Bachelor of Education with course completion in Religious Studies at the undergraduate or graduate level;

Teaching experience or pre-service practice teaching experience in Religious Education grades K -7;

Candidates must fulfill the Catholic eligibility requirements for Catholic Schools.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:

Candidates should have and may be assessed on their: Comprehensive and working knowledge of the Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church, the Compendium of the Social Teaching of the Church and Religious Education programs.

Commitment to model and promote philosophy, values, and lifestyle consistent with the tenants of the Catholic faith.

Ability to assist the school administration in providing leadership in religious education.

Ability to maintain lines of communication with the Catholic Church including the Bishop, school chaplain, parishes, school council, CEAY and the two other Catholic schools, in collaboration with school administration

Willingness and ability to support and collaborate with school staff and administration in the leadership, coordination and delivery of the schools religious education program.

Facilitate opportunities for students, staff and/or to connect with the Diocese of Whitehorse and parish communities.

Ability to prepare and coordinate Catholic liturgies for the school.

Ability to oversee and coordinate the retreat program for the students, and Catholic PD days, in collaboration with the Bishop and the school chaplain.

An appreciation of the culturally diverse student population of the Yukon, with the ability to incorporate and promote this diversity within the faith life of the school community, including Indigenous peoples, while promoting unity within the faith life of the Catholic school community.

A knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of the First Nations people of Yukon. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: To be a Teacher in Yukon, you must hold a Teacher Certification in another Canadian province/territory first;

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.

Relocation may be available

Preference will be given to the candidate who is a practicing member of the Roman Catholic Church, committed to excellence in Catholic Education.To receive preference, it is required to include a current Roman Catholic Pastoral Reference, current Teacher Faith Letter and current Baptismal Certificate.
